Dainton Taphouse – has its own street art laneway just to drink beer in

 Dainton Brewery Taphouse

A long-time favourite for many, Dainton is never one to sit still. They’re all about pushing boundaries, trying new things.

To mix things up, in their taphouse they’ve recently created a new undercover laneway. With its own street art, and Dainton kegs repurposed as tables, this is a prime spot to enjoy a pint and a bite.

Innovation and creativity is clearly something that drives these guys. Their beers have gone from being interesting craft beers to some rather crazy experimental ones with all kinds of fruit, spices and anything the brewers can think to throw in. In 2018 Dan and the gang made 131 different beers for a World Record tap-takeover at the Prince Alfred Hotel in Queensland.

They recently also picked up 3 gold medals at the 2021 Independent Beer Awards, and their beers have made the GABS hottest 100 craft beers list more than once.

With regular live tunes and taphouse trivia too, you’ll definitely want to check these guys out, or head back again to see what’s changed since last time. Oh and p.s, you can bring your pooch too!

The Bank Brewing name is inspired by 90’s nostalgia

Banks Brewing Taphouse

Banks Brewing has been part of the Frankston scene since 2016. Led by head brewer Chris Farmer and his wife Penny, they’ve been kicking goals on the craft beer scene for over 5 years now.

So where does the brewery name come from?  It’s actually named after their dog Banks, inspired by a character from the iconic 90s films The Mighty Ducks.

Super passionate about what they do, “It can always be better” is somewhat their moto, believing if you achieve perfection what’s left to shoot for?

New flavours are all fair game here. Chris and his team like to experiment heavily with a variety of different fruits, new world & old world hop varieties. There is nothing out of reach in the IPA, Stout & Sour world.

The taproom has a great vibe that’s a perfect mix of causal, relaxed, fun and a little cheeky.

Want to see a German folklore house spirit?

RESIZE20N8A1916ThreefoldSocial FrankstonCouncil Nov

If you’ve visited the beerhalls around Germany, you might be familiar with the term Biersal.

It’s is a type of kobold (house spirit) of German folklore. The story goes, the Biersal will gladly clean bottles, steins, casks and kegs that have been used by the brewer in return for payment in the form of beer. If they felt ‘unjustly paid’ however, they resort to mischief hiding tools and causing equipment disasters.

Curious to know what they look like? Well the giant mural in the Biersal Brewery and Beerhall will kind of give that away.  Yep it’s that green fellow in the middle.

Inspired by travels to Hamburg and Berlin, the crew at Biersal were keen to create their own German inspired beer to add to the Frankston brewery scene. They’re production is boutique, small scale, only producing 9 kegs per beer.  When you find a favourite new beer here, enjoy it, ‘cause you won’t find it in the big scale bottle shops.

The beer, the atmosphere and the German touches, all make this the perfect place to settle in on a weekend afternoon.
