10 ways to win at winter
They say the winter weather is ‘character building’…
There’s no avoiding it, winter’s cold and yes there’s rain, but we know you’re still 100% keen to have some fun.
So let's help you with that.
Get snug at the Hop Shop
Ok, this is the place to grab some mates, grab a pint and settle in by the fireplace. They have a big range of craft brews, local wines and have teamed up with the Bang Bang crew, so you can smash the perfect bar bites to pair with your pint. Located in the centre of the city, their fire will keep you warm on the coldest of Frankston nights.
Drink a Hot Cross Bun
Getting in the winter mood, the gang at Biersal Brewery in Seaford have created a Hot Mulled Stout. We’ve heard it’s like drinking a hot cross bun! If that doesn't tickle your fancy though, they have plenty of other beers you can sample. They even have their very own courtesy brewery bus. For groups of 4-7, you can get a FREE pick up AND drop off! They’ll take you anywhere in Seaford and the surrounding suburbs.
Discover the perfect winter SUP spot
While winter brings cooler weather that lures us to stay indoors, it can also bring some of the best days that nature has to offer. A clear blue sky, no wind, and if you’re keen on a little SUP, we have the perfect place for you; Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve. A short walk (400m) from the carpark and you’ll find a launch ramp beside the blue dam at the centre of the reserve. Canoes and Kayaks are also great here.
Weekend cocktails and a game of Uno?
If you haven't heard the rumour, gin is cool again, and it seems everyone is on-board. Lucky for us, we have the awesome crew at That Spirited Lot in Seaford creating the goods.
You can sit down to enjoy spirit flights or a full drinks list including banging G&Ts and some pretty awesome cocktails. If you're feeling peckish you can grab a cheeky grazing board or even get your taste buds around their toasty jaffles. Grab some mates, bring the uno cards and settle in for the arvo.
Take a swing in a world of pop culture
Holey Moley is Frankston's craziest mini golf venue par none. Forget the usual windmills and castles, you'll be putting across Monopoly boards, a sweet fest utopia and shark infested waters to the background of iconic pop tunes. There’s even a bar if you’re craving a cocktail. Super fun, super insta snappy.
Go on, have a laugh
Wowee, sometimes it feels like a laugh can be few and far in between. So let’s seek them out. There are some great comedy nights across Frankston. Humdinger Bar has live comedy every Thursday night, featuring new and upcoming comedians. Book a table, and remember how great live comedy is.
Burst out of an escape room
No you’re not imagining it. Everyone’s loving escape rooms right now. Designed for people who love a challenge, problem solving, or just using a walkie talkie! Excape in Frankston have four different rooms; Zombie Escape, Illuminati Project 11, and a Crime Scene Investigation…There's even some great spots to grab a bite to eat afterwards like Virgo Espresso, Eeny Meeny and Baba on Wells.
Enjoy a classic pub parma
The Grand is a ‘pub’ pub. An institution for 70+ years, parmas, pies and pints all feel pretty comfortable here. The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and warm! Perfect for those catch up with mates, of if you’ve got the kids too.
Sit down to a Sunday Roast
Every Sunday, Love Gretel are serving up a good old fashioned roast, Meat and 3 veg, just like grandma used to make. You might even be lucky enough to find a Yorkshire pudding on the plate, for those craving a roast UK style.
Take in a show
You might not know, but the Frankston Arts Centre is one of the largest outer metropolitan arts venues in Australia! This winter their line-up of events include the alluring tunes of Xavier Rudd and the comedy genius of Jimeoin Live, Musicals lover? The World of Musicals savours the best of Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, We will Rock You, Sister Act 2 plus so much more. If you have little ones, Edward the Emu on stage will be a nostalgic favourite.
