ENCOUNTER Frankston - Beyond the Wall
You may think you know all of the artwork in Frankston's street and laneways.... but you haven't seen them like this before!
The City's first augmented reality scavenger hunt, ENCOUNTER, will take you beyond the wall as you loop through the city exploring colour, movement and music as well as the City's most playful hospitality venues. There are 7 augmented reality locations - you will need to solve the clues to find them (some new, some existing). When you find them, simply point your smartphone camera at the artwork and watch it come to life. Do you know Frankston well enough to find all 7 locations?
To start your hunt, download the 'EyeJack app' (on Google Play and AppStore) and search for ENCOUNTER or scan the QR code at the artwork location (if you stumble across one) with your smart phone. Once you've solved the clues and found each destination, complete your details for a chance to WIN $500 worth of local vouchers to use this summer! But be quick - competition entries close 31 December 2021.
The City's participating businesses have come to the party to welcome you as you uncover the trail too. Activate the artworks to unlock local discounts to be used on the spot or when you come back to visit again.
Have you visited The Hop Shop on Playne Street yet? Co-owner Ed Cox is excited about this new activation in the city centre, saying, “Street art in Frankston is eclectic and ENCOUNTER will enable The Hop Shop to join in on the expanding tourism offering and will bring a new flavour and audience to our business,” .... could this just be your first clue???
The artists, sound engineers and animators of the artworks featured in ENCOUNTER reside as far as Glasgow, Canada, Melbourne and Copenhagen and included artists such as SMUG, Ckoe, Almost Iris, Sutu, Helena Papageorgiou, Dave Mutnjakovic and Tom Eglington.
So what are you waiting for? It's time to ENCOUNTER Frankston; your new way to explore the city and discover the unexpected.
DISCOVER - PLAY - WIN - Let’s GO!
ENCOUNTER will be running until March 2022 and is proudly brought to you by Frankston City Council and the Victorian State Government. Frankston City Council acknowledges and pays respect to the Bunurong People, the Traditional Custodians of these lands and waters. Frankston City Council would like to thank the participating businesses for their involvement (sorry, no more clues! #sorrynotsorry).
