Discover Vegan Dishes in Frankston City!
Are you following a plant-based diet? Or have you just wanted to eat a little less meat?
To celebrate 'World Vegan Day' on 1 November and as Frankston Visitor Information Centre's self-appointed vegan aficionado, I'm so excited to share with you some of Frankston City's healthy, veggie-rich and delicious food offerings that easily substitute meat-based dishes and will not make you miss meat!
Let's begin by exploring the veganising of classic dishes and creativeness being brought to us by local cafes and restaurants. There are many places now offering vegan dining options exclusively or as part of a standard menu, but here are my personal favourites that you can take-away, order for delivery and, mostly excitedly, dine at once again. #supportlocal.

Pro-tip #1: To comply with government restrictions most venues are offering limited indoor and/or outdoor seated dining –remember to check their dining arrangements and booking requirements in advance, and come prepared for an outdoor experience with hat, sunscreen, sunnies and a warm jacket

This cafe is the quintessential vegan restaurant in Frankston known for recreating all your favourite menu items with 100% plant-based ingredients. The objective of the Café is to share their enthusiasm for exquisite food, while maintaining a sustainably ethos of not harming animals or the environment, making animal-free eating simple and easy to maintain.
If you've been there you will know there are too many great options to pick just one favourite, but if I had choose one it would have to be the Lentil Burger. This masterpiece took out the Frankston Burger-Off Challenge in 2019.
But the incredible vegan and vegetarian food options do not stop there. They have a range of smoothies, smoothie bowls, breakfast and brunch options. There also have ready to go meals that change periodically (call ahead to see what's available).
Pro-tip #2: If you are new to the whole vegan thing try the Tropical Pancakes; a plant-based spin on an old faithful.

Frankston is not limited to showcasing Australian vegan dishes. There are ample international options to entice you as well. One of my favourites is Korean - delicious! It is right on our doorstep with the Choego Korean Street Food and Dessert House and its sister venue, Geonbae Korean BBQ Restaurant Frankston.
Choego brings authentic Korean to Frankston, with the best Korean Street Food and desserts. Most of the meals are meat-based; however, there are a few hidden gems on the menu which make this a top priority for vegans and vegetarians in Frankston.
Whether it is a planned night out with friends when restrictions are lifted or a casual bite to eat, Choego makes quick and appetizing vegan food. One of my favourites on the menu is the "Vegetable Japchae" which is stir-fried vegetables with sweet potato noodles - yum!
Pro-tip #3: Vegetarians should try the "Bibim Bap" with tofu, which is rice and vegetables topped off with an egg.

While Waves is not solely a vegetarian restaurant, there are many items on the menu that I love! The takeaway menu features crowd favourites such as fish and chips, carbonara or a classic parmigiana.
However, we're not interested in that right now, and we're going to concentrate on the best vegetarian and vegan dishes available at Waves on the Beach.
You cannot, I repeat … you cannot go past this restaurant without trying the Satay Tofu with rice. Words cannot describe how tasty this dish is. Tofu and vegetables marinated in the most incredible satay sauce I have ever tasted, with a side of steamed rice. Need I say more?
Pro-tip #4: If you are allergic to nuts, I will forgive you for not trying this. Pay special attention to the Tofu Laksa – Penang style coconut broth, with sweet potato glass noodles, shredded cabbage, cucumber and fried shallots.
