I ❤ Seaford

This little suburb directly North of Frankston lives up to the “Northside” hype. The welcoming Spanish bar serves authentic Paella and Sangria and live Flamenco guitar on weekends, while Gelato Unou give’s Messina a run for its money. Both opposite one of the most pristine beaches in Melbourne. Even the public toilets at the architect award winning Seaford Life Saving club are pretty.

The Beacon sculpture welcomes visitors and residents to Seaford at the Eel Race Rd Underpass. This artwork celebrates the maritime history of Port Phillip Bay and the connection of the sea and land, highlighting the significance of our location on Port Phillip Bay. Sort of like a modern day lighthouse. Created by famous Sculpture artist Matt Calvert and unveiled in 2022.

Seaford Life Saving club was opened in 2005 and gained a lot of attention for the ecological design that worked within the stunning beach location while encouraging a sense of community and easy use of the space. The Seaford Life Saving club café has been a bustling meeting spot with some of the best bay views in Melbourne ever since and community groups and of course the lifesavers make use of the rest of the building.

Pohss Studio are all about movement, connection, music and sparkles are always welcome. They do regular silent disco walks beginning at the Seaford Guide Hall and making their way to the Life Saving Club and onto the Seaford Pier. Their full moon disco’s are pretty fab too.

Seaford wetland areas are the largest remaining natural wetlands of their type in Port Phillip and Western Port basins. The wetlands are an internationally significant habitat for diversity of bird life, including a number of rare and endangered migratory water birds from as far afield as Siberia. Via Austin Rd Seaford you will find viewing platforms and access to extensive bicycle and walking tacks.

Murals by Melanie Caple brighten up the Seaford shopping strip on Station Street with artworks to be found on the Seaford Library, Spanish Bar and the public toliets. In this shopping strip are Thai restaurants, fashion boutiques, op shops and around the corner you will find Tres Mexican (an open and spacious Mexican restaurant with robot waiters and neon walls for your Instagram pics) and 38 South Café a super popular spot for locals with many grabbing a coffee and heading across to the beach for their daily walk.

Just around the corner you’ll discover locally run clothing boutique, Creek and Bay. Named after its location between Kananook Creek and Port Phillip Bay, you’ll find bright colours, fun fashion, jewellery and giftwares.

More recently, Seaford has become home to local brewers and distillers that are establishing a pretty amazing reputation. That Spirited Lot, Banks Brewing and Biersal Brewery all call Seaford home, located on, or near Hartnett Drive. Cellar doors, taphouses, food and live music can all be enjoyed here.
