Our location is second to none. Commanding ideal centre-stage between Melbourne’s urban metropolis and the tranquil Mornington Peninsula, we are one of very few blended bush-bay-cities, and a major drawcard for both sea and tree changers.
Located on the eastern shores of Port Philip Bay, approximately 40 kilometres south of Melbourne CBD, Frankston City is strategically placed as the regional centre for the Mornington Peninsula and the South East growth corridor for Melbourne.
Located less than an hour from Melbourne, Frankston is a highly accessible destination, within easy commuting distance from Melbourne CBD - as well as stunning uninterrupted views of Victoria’s capital city on the horizon of the bay.
A popular year-round destination for the neighbouring shires of Kingston, Greater Dandenong, Casey and Mornington Peninsula in its own right, Frankston City is also ideally located as central hub to Victoria's major tourist attractions. Just an hour from Philip Island, Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and the regular Great-Ocean-Road-bound Queenscliff ferries. Or just a short drive to the Red Hill wineries, Balnarring races, Portsea and Sorrento.
Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne’s largest international and domestic terminal, is located 25km north-west of the Melbourne CBD. There are various transport options to and from the airport including the Peninsula Express SkyBus direct to and from Frankston.
The redeveloped Frankston Station has trains departing every ten minutes to Melbourne CBD, carrying over 2.5 million passengers each year, while the Stony Point Line connects easily to the Mornington Peninsula.
Acknowledging Frankston City’s status as a prime commuter location, both the Federal and Victorian State governments have invested significantly in major road infrastructure and two new commuter car parks, Kananook Commuter Car Park and Frankston Commuter Car Park.
Enhanced connections between local Industrial Precincts and housing and freight corridors are resulting in local business attraction faster than most other regions within Melbourne’s South East.
With the newly redeveloped Frankston Station, shortlisted in the Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Architecture Awards 2019, successful level crossing removal completion and the upcoming Metro Tunnel set to create room for 36,000 more passengers on the Frankston line each week, travelling to and throughout Frankston City couldn’t be easier.
