Artist Bio:
Born, raised and living in Frankston, Sheldon says he’s always had a keen interest in all forms of art, whether on paper, canvas or concrete. He has been an artist for 20+ years, starting as a kid that loved to draw and became infatuated with painting of any sort.
Sheldon is a local Frankston artist whose street art has been commissioned by councils, schools and business owners. He transitioned from graffiti to murals in 2000 when a local business owner commissioned him to paint his first legal wall to cover unsightly graffiti.
Sheldon has been working closely with Frankston City Council, largely with Frankston Youth Services helping to run RAD-FMP (Responding to Alcohol & Other Drugs Frankston, Mornington Peninsula), a program devised to instill confidence and a sense of accomplishment through completing a course teaching aerosol based art.
Taking on mural commissions means that Sheldon is working across a wide range of subjects, especially lettering, in response to a diversity of setting from fish and chip shops to gyms, boats to trucks and cafes. He says that “anything with a surface is a good canvas”.
