It’s a food festival like no other.
For the first time The Waterfront Festival (19-20 Feb) will feature over 30 food trucks and bars serving up refreshing flavours from all around the world, not to mention some of our local favourites. Add in 3 stages of live music, rides and heaps of free activities and entertainment, and you have yourself a whopping weekend of fun and laughter.
Let’s wander through the festival site one cuisine at a time so you can immerse yourself in some of the dishes we will be serving up to you all weekend long.
Starting in the Ventana Fiesta Precinct located on Long Island Reserve (new in 2022) you will find traditional aromas and flavours of Mediterranean, Columbian, Argentina and Chilean cuisines.
Think Colombian Arepas, Empanadas, Mexican street food, authentic Spanish churros and Paella, traditional Argentine pastries, Panzerotto and Dutch pancakes.
Hold up. What’s a Panzerotto you ask? Well, it’s a pastry dough filled with cheese and tomato sauce, fried up into a golden half-moon shaped pastry of deliciousness, traditional to Mediterranean culture. YUM!
Be sure to wash all that down at the Latin bar or with a Sangria (non-alcoholic options available), a glass of Prosecco or cocktail from the The Prosecco Van or with a glass of seasonal craft beer thanks to our local favourites Dainton Family Brewery.
A speciality in this space this year will be Paletto Pops who will be serving up Artisan Gelato and Sorbet Pops for those with a sweeter tooth.
The Ventana Fiesta Precinct; a celebration of over 25 countries will be set out in a village inspired atmosphere, with representation of different cultures presented in clusters of fine wine, food, dance.. It’s a colourful precinct not to be missed.
Heading over the Landmark Bridge, into the original Waterfront Festival site you are going to be hit with some of our festival favourites in the Food Truck Square and The Garden Bar. Salt and pepper Calamari, Greek salads, hot chips, baked and twisted potatoes, French crepes, fish and chips, BBQs, donuts, burgers, Vietnamese street food, wood fire pizza, souvlakis… oh my! So many flavours and so little time!! s!
The Garden Bar is another licenced area within the festival site. Proudly presented by Cheeky Squire here you can enjoy craft beer from the James Squire range at The Cheeky Squire, boutique wine from Chirping Bird Wines, 'socially approachable' craft beer on tap from our local micro-brewery Frankston Brewhouse and Apple, Pear, Blackcurrant, Mango, Strawberry and Ginger Beer ciders from Mr Little Cider. Heck, it sounds like a fruit salad, however refreshing.
The Waterfront Festival really is a global fiesta of food and drink.
Favourites and essentials
Don’t worry we haven’t missed the essentials. Spread throughout the entire festival you will find all your must-haves including coffee, ice coffee, ice creams and milkshakes!
We know you can find it on our website, but to make it easy here’s your food truck and bar form guide. Pick a few winners ahead of the festival, but don’t be surprise if your tastebuds lead you in a different direction! Check out the Food Truck and Bar line-up below.
