Gould League marine education activities: 12pm – 4pm
Join the Gould League at the Waterfront Festival for a fun and educational experience exploring marine life and sustainability!GouldLeague Marineeducation

They will be running marine education activities:

  • Beach Discovery box - Discover the wonders of the beach with the Beach Discovery Box, where you can get hands-on with treasures like shells, corals, sponges, and even shark eggs.

  • Float or Sink - Engage your inner scientist with Float or Sink, an interactive activity that lets kids test whether beach items will float or sink.

  • Marine Timeline activity -  For older children and adults, the Marine Timeline challenge will spark conversation as you guess how long it takes for everyday rubbish to break down in the ocean. This eye-opening activity helps raise awareness about the environmental impact of waste on marine life.

With over 114 years of promoting environmental education, the Gould League empowers individuals and communities to live more sustainably. Don’t miss out on these exciting, hands-on activities that combine fun and learning at the festival!

Living with Wildlife: 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Continuing the theme of marine education there's more interactive activities to discover with the Living with Wildlife activation.

Identify cool creatures like shark and stingray egg sacks, guess which animal left footprints on the sand (maybe a penguin or a crab?), and even learn about beach hazards like fake dog poo and the importance of protecting birds nesting in the dunes!

It’s a chance to get your hands dirty, have a blast, and learn all about our amazing marine world. Come and find the team in the Waterfront Village and join the fun.
