Shop till you drop! Frankston City is THE destination for shopping
Frankston City’s diverse retail offering is a major attraction for its 800,000 visitors per year, local community of 141,000 and hundreds of thousands of residents from neighbouring municipalities.
We are home to three vibrant and diverse major retail centres including Karingal Hub, Frankston Power Centre Power Centre and one of the largest retail centres outside of Melbourne CBD, Vicinity's constantly evolving Bayside Retail Centre.
Frankston city centre has 82,000 sq.m of retail space (spread across the main shopping streets in the city centre), and there are over 212,000 square metres of retail space available across the vibrant destination shopping centres Bayside and the Power Centre. Karingal hub has also undergone a $160 million expansion investment, bringing its total leasable area to 53,000 sq.m.
Where else can you walk to a major shopping complex, a CBD, a train station, a large movie theatre, bowling alleys, pubs, clubs, the beach and a flora and fauna reserve?
The mix of large name outlets and home-grown original businesses makes shopping in Frankston City an attractive proposal, with plenty of opportunity and appetite for new retail possibilities to open up.
Set among these modern shopping centres and street side boutiques are our entertainment precincts, where cinemas, restaurants and bars complement any visit to Frankston City.
Vicinity’s Bayside Shopping Centre has 88,843m² of floor space, comprising 241 stores over three levels serviced by 3,452 car spaces. The major retailers, which are located at either end of the centre, include Target, Kmart ,Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and Hoyts Cinema. The mini major tenants also include UNIQLO, JB Hi-Fi, Strike Bowling Bar, TK Maxx, Rebel Sport, The Sporting Globe Bar and Grill, JD Sports and more. An upgrade in 2011 brought the combined total cost of development to AU$200m. Upgrades starting in 2023 removed the second level food court which is starting to be replaced by new, contemporary office suites located directly above the retail precinct. This offers businesses a unique workplace solution that benefits from the hyper convenience of direct transport links, ample on-site parking and the vibrant Bayside retail and dining precinct on its doorstep.
