Description

RAD-FMP is an engagement program working with at risk young people of Frankston Central to re-connect with their community in pro-social activities.

In collaboration with street artist Sheldon Headspeath young people involved in the RAD Project developed ideas, designs and concepts culminating into this final design. Co-design of activities is integral in engaging and retaining participation of this cohort in activities. Workshops were run to develop skills in aerosol art and over 4 session the RAD project participants applied the artwork to revitalise the construction hoardings on Davey Street, promoting positive public perceptions of young people in the area, and acknowledging young people’s positive contributions. FCC and Taskforce Youth Workers facilitated the project to create a safe space to connect with and talk with young people about issues affecting their lives. Engaging young people in place-making has given them the opportunity to contribute to improving their local environment through street art and connect with the community.
