Education Development
Australia is renowned globally for its excellence in education and innovation in delivering its resources. The education sector itself contributes approximately $34 billion annually to the country’s economy.
Locally, Frankston City is host to the Monash University Peninsula Campus, a global top 50 university, attracting thousands of students, both local and international. In addition, the state-of-the-art Chisholm TAFE Campus currently services over 12,000 students and has recently completed a major $75 million Stage 1 Redevelopment. A further $64 million redeployment is now confirmed for Stage 2 which will support students to access more courses and university pathways.
Recently, an Education Precincts Discussion Paper released by the Property Council of Australia highlighted the significant income-generating potential within the sector and proposed improved methods for industry and government collaboration to enhance project value. The sector is presented with a significant opportunity to leverage capital locked up in asset holdings while concurrently revitalising Frankston's central precincts and ‘honing-in’ on core business operations.
Co-investment in developments with the private sector can leverage the economic output of innovation districts and precincts more generally by combining the strengths of academia with commercialisation of industry partners.
