Festival Fireworks! 5 Top Spots to See the Show at The Waterfront Festival 2023

Hitting The Waterfront Festival this year and want to choose the best spot to see the fireworks? Or maybe you are skipping the live music and entertainment and want a seat away from the buzz to watch the night sky light up with colour. Either way, we have you covered! Saturday 18 February is sure to go off with a bang when fireworks are released off Frankston Pier following You Am I’s set on the Waterfront Stage. So grab your camera and let us show you around the 5 best places to see the fireworks at this year’s Waterfront Festival.

Oliver's Corner, Frankston

1.The new kid on the block in 2023 is Oliver’s Corner. Nestled in the Frankston Yacht Club, this sunset beach bar gets you up close and personal with Frankston beach. You’ll practically feel the sand between your toes as you “ooohhh” and “ahhhh” at the fireworks. Here’s a hint: give them a buzz before heading in, to let them know you’re coming, on what is sure to be a busy night.

Unmissable moment: May we suggest sipping on an Espresso Martini, Mojito as you watch the fireworks display. Oliver’s Corner has a list of classic cocktails just waiting for you to try.

2. Our next suggestion is such a crowd pleaser that it will pay to get there a little earlier just to claim your spot. Yep, you guess is, we’re talking about Oliver’s Hill Lookout. This spot is about a 10 minute walk from the festival – and the incline means that the fireworks are not the only thing that will get your heart rate going! But there’s a reason this one is so popular – the views cross the bay are outstanding and worth the stroll up the hill.

Unmissable moment: On a clear night, you’ll not only get to see the fireworks and Frankston, you’ll be able to look out across the bay to Melbourne City.

3. If you want to have few drinks with mates while the sky lights up with colour, then your best choice may very well be The Cheeky Squire. Not only are they proud presenters of The Garden Bar this year, they’re also home to one of the best spots to see the fireworks. Sunny by day and a great place to chill by night, the outdoor deck at The Cheeky Squire has everything you’ll need to settle in for the night. And as a bonus, this space has been transformed to a very instagrammable Summer Deck with plenty of colour for your backdrops.

Unmissable moment: Want to make a weekend of it? Then why not book in at Night Cap at The Cheeky Squire and kick back and relax without worrying about getting home.

4. Take the scenic route along the beach to Oliver’s Hill Boat Ramp, located at the bottom of Oliver's Hill, to find our next suggestion. Grab a seat on the sea wall and watch the fireworks while enjoying relaxed vibes and the sea breeze. You can even bring along something yummy from one of the 30+ food trucks that’ll be at the festival and snack while you watch. Dinner and a show; what more could you want?

5. It’s a Frankston icon, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the Waterfront Festival action and it offers one of the best views of the fireworks in town. That’s right, we’re talking about The Deck est. 2013. If you get your timing right, you’ll be able to see You Am I on the Waterfront Stage and still catch the fireworks from The Deck. Winning!

Unmissable moment: Keep the party going after the fireworks with live music at The Deck including a cover band from 10.30pm. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes and boogie the night away with those spectacular bay views.
